A Retraction

This post has been a long time coming. It's been weighing on my mind for several weeks now, but I just haven't had the courage to write it. I kept waiting for something to change, but nothing has changed and it's time to admit the truth.

This year's Mocha Coconut Frappuccino at Starbucks is disgusting.

There. It's done, I said it, it's out. My beloved drink that I have raved about, that I was so excited about, is horrible. I don't know what Starbucks did to their coconut syrup, or why they thought they needed to change it, but it's so medicinal, so artificial tasting--I kept ordering the drink different ways, with fewer and fewer pumps of coconut, but even with just one pump it's overpowering and gross.

Not cool, Starbucks. Not cool.

  1. HAHAHAHA!!! I hope they take note!!! I bought a coconut cappuccino from "SO Delicious" - the dairy-free company and thought of you. It was not too bad - just very very sweet - overly so. So, I diluted it down with some milk. It's too bad your favorite drink doesn't taste the same. That's terrible. I felt that way when Lean Gourmet changed their "Santa Fe Rice and Beans" - it used to be really yummy and I loved having it for lunch, and then suddenly about 7 years ago, they changed how it was - it's not that great anymore, although I still buy it because it's one of the few vegetarian microwaveable entrees that I can find! :-)

    1. I think they got the message, but they didn't like it--I posted on their FB page with a link to this blog post, and it looks like they deleted it! Hmmmph. Maybe I'll post again and take a screen shot so I know I'm not crazy!

  2. How disappointing! I was going to order one of these soon since you were so excited to hear they were selling them again. I won't now!

  4. I buy the Starbucks frappacinos in the glass jar when I want one. I always get the Mocha. One day, I accidentally grabbed a Mocha Coconut. YUCK!!!! I hated it! And the label looks almost the same. I walked up to a gas station counter with another one one day. The cashier, thankfully, asked if I realized it was the coconut one. I thanked her and ran back and traded it for regular mocha. I even like coconut and hated that thing. Blech!

  5. At least you gave them ample opportunities to correct themselves. :)
